YMCA wins Get Moving Tasmania Physical Activity Award 2018

The YMCA of Hobart are thrilled and honoured to be awarded the ‘Get Moving Tasmania Physical Activity Awards’ at the recent 2018 Community Achievement Awards.

The award recognises the important role that organisations such as the YMCA play in promoting and providing opportunities for everybody to be active and healthy.   Their nominated programs provide opportunities for over 500 young people per week to participate in physical activity, develop skills and discover their talents.  Activities offered in the Youth Active network include:

  • School YEP – (Youth Empowerment Program)
  • Mountain Bike Skill Development
  • Aquatic Sports Squad
  • Skate Park Leagues (incorporating scooter, BMX and Skating)

YMCA of Hobart believes passionately in the power of young inspired people and our Youth Active Programs help empower young people to be the best versions of themselves.    The award is a credit to the team of YMCA people who have created and grown the programs and range of activities.

YMCA congratulate fellow finalists New Horizon and Tasmanian Road Runners and all nominees in this award who help our communities be happier and healthier.   We also thank the sponsors of the Community Achievement Awards:   ‘Bentleys Accountants, Auditors and Advisors’, ‘Fairfax Media’, ‘Tasmanian Government’ and Southern Cross Austereo.

YMCA also thanks our members at Clarence Aquatic Centre, Barossa Park YMCA, Glenorchy Pool, Y-Fitness and Rosny Golf Course and YMCA Swim School.  Your support of the YMCA allows us to make an even greater impact in our communities with programs such as Youth Active!

The YMCA of Hobart acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal People as the Traditional Owners and ongoing custodians of lutruwita, Tasmania. We pay our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and to their Elders past, present and emerging.
