Award winning swim instructors

Award winning swim instructors

Article by Maddie Jordan, YMCA Swim School Coordinator.

Here at the YMCA of Hobart we have a fantastic team of swimming instructors. Recently some of our staff were nominated and received awards for their excellent work.  Austswim Annual State Awards nominees were Kim Hill, Alyce Hennessy and Ada Crantock with both Kim and Ada receiving awards. Ada won ‘Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety’ award and Kim won the ‘Preschool and Infants’ award.   The Y congratulates our instructors representing us for their outstanding achievements, and for assisting us to provide accessible and safer aquatics at the highest standard in Tasmania.

In addition to the awards, we also had two of our staff further their knowledge in the area of competitive strokes instruction, an Austswim extension course.  Both Tracey French and Amanda Punch participated and are now able to share their knowledge of the course to others in the team, as well as the many students we have within our swim school and squad groups.  Their hard work and dedication to teaching is highly appreciated by the community and we are so pleased to have such a great team at the Y.
