Swim School Information and Terms and Conditions

 

When lessons are on:

  • -Public Holidays: No lessons on public holidays, you do not pay for these lessons.
  • -Christmas/January: Lessons are not held over Christmas/New Year – Check our calendar for specific dates.
  • -School Holidays: Lessons continue over school holidays.

 

Cancellations: 

  • -Once your child is enrolled fees & lessons continue yearly until you cancel in writing If you wish to stop at any time you must inform us in writing either to swimschooltas@ymca.org.au (a response MUST be received confirming your cancellation or it is not valid) or by a form at reception.
  • -Direct Debit enrolments: We must be notified of direct debit cancellations 2 business days prior to the next direct debit.

 

Finances:

  • -Upfront Semester Payments: Payment for swimming lessons is in advance.  If payment is not received, access to lessons may be cancelled. Each Semester payment must be made within two weeks of the payment date, failure to pay within this time will result in a $15.00 late fee per child/enrolment being added to your bill. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please speak to the Aquatics Administration Co-Ordinator to discuss alternative payment arrangements heidi.mcconnell@ymca.org.au or 6244 2294.
  • -Pro-Rata: Direct debit enrolments may incur a pro rata fee when beginning lessons. This fee is at the time of enrolment or on request it can be charged to your first direct debit. This fee occurs when your child/ren start in the middle of a direct debit period and have ‘missed’ the charging period. It is not an additional fee.
  • -Direct Debit Periods: Direct Debits are charged in advance. Therefore your fee charged is for the two lessons following your direct debit.
  • -Refunds: Will only be granted under the following circumstances: hospitalisation, major illness or injury, relocation or other major extenuating circumstances.  Request for refund must be made in writing and addressed to the Swim School Manager and can be emailed to swimschooltas@ymca.org.au.
  • -Family Credit: Family credit must be used within 6 months of issue

 

Sickness and Make-Up Lessons:

  • -If your child is sick & you have a medical certificate: Your Swim School account will be credited for your missed lesson when the medical certificate is provided to our team.
  • -If your child is sick & you do not have a medical certificate: You may choose to do a make-up lesson.
  • -Make up lessons: Each child receives four make up lessons per calendar year, these cannot be rolled over to other years. Once your child is feeling better contact our Swim School team to organise a make-up.

 

Swim School Membership Entitlements:

  • -Free entry: Students enrolled in YMCA Swim School Tas are entitled to free entry to Clarence Aquatic Centre & Glenorchy War Memorial Pool during Swim School Semesters. Free entry covers the student only, all accompanying adults/children are to pay entry fees.
  • -Supervision Requirements:  1 adult to two children 0-5yrs & under. 1 Adult to four children 6yrs-10yrs
  • -Barossa Park Wellness Centre: Free entry is not permitted to this facility due to the nature of the clientele and programs.
  • -Access exceptions: Free entry is suspended during Christmas holidays due to swimming lessons not being held. Free access during semesters is not available for families with unpaid accounts.

General information:

  • -Supervision of Students in YMCA Centres: A responsible adult must accompany swim school students to actively supervise before and after the child’s lesson.  If your child is under 10 at Clarence Aquatic Centre or under 16 at Barossa Wellness Centre you must remain in the centre the entirety of the swimming lesson. Instructors cannot supervise students outside of the allocated lesson time.
  • -Swim School Access Card and Entry to the Centre: Students will be issued with a YMCA Swim School Access Card.  This must be presented at the reception counter to be scanned prior to entry to the Centre both before lessons and during outside of lesson visits.
  • -Entry to the water prior to swim lessons: You are more than welcome to enter the Centre any time prior to the scheduled start time for the child’s lesson.  However, children are not to enter the water prior to their lesson start time until invited by their instructor.
  • -Teacher and Class Changes:  We will try our very best to provide you with the same teacher and pool space each week.
