Swim School Terms and Conditions

School Holidays and Swim School Enrolment Suspensions:

Lessons are held every week including during term holidays. However, if you would like to take short break during school holidays you are more than welcome to ‘suspend’ your child’s enrolment during this time. There is no cost to suspend during term holidays and it is simple to arrange – just pick up a suspension form from the reception desk. If you wish to ‘suspend’ your child’s enrolment outside of term holidays you must also complete a suspension form at reception and pay a small holding fee of $5.00 per lesson per child. Please note that the free entry available as part of the swim school membership will be suspended during holiday breaks.

Supervision of Students in YMCA Centres:

A responsible adult must accompany swim school students to supervise before and after the child’s lesson.  Instructors cannot supervise students outside of the allocated lesson time.

Public Holidays:

Lessons are not conducted on Public Holidays. You will not be charged if your lesson falls on one of these dates.

Swim School Membership:

Students who are enrolled in swim school with a direct debit or a semester payment are considered to be “Swim School Members”.  Swim school members are entitled to free entry to Clarence Aquatic Centre and the Glenorchy War Memorial Pool during the swim school year.  The free entry covers only the student.  Any accompanying swimmers will need to pay the standard entry fee. Please note that a ‘Swim School membership’ does not include free entry to Barossa Park YMCA wellness Centre outside of set lesson times.

Swim School Access Card and Entry to the Centre:

Students will be issued with a YMCA Swim School Access Card.  This must be presented at the reception counter to be scanned prior to entry to the Centre both before lessons and during outside of lesson visits.

Entry to the water prior to swim lessons:

You are more than welcome to enter the Centre any time prior to the scheduled start time for the child’s lesson.  However, children are not to enter the water prior to their lesson start time until invited by their instructor.

Cancellations:

The minimum period for a swim school enrolment is one semester.  Refunds will only be granted under the following circumstances: hospitalisation, major illness or injury, relocation or other major extenuating circumstances.  Request for refund must be made in writing and sent to the Swim School Coordinator. If you wish to stop swimming at any time you must inform us in writing as enrolments are ongoing.

Payment:

Payment for swimming lessons is in advance.  If payment is not received, access to lessons may be cancelled. Each Semester payment must be made within two weeks of the payment date, failure to pay within this time will result in a $15.00 late fee per child/enrolment being added to your bill. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please speak to the YCMA Swim School Coordinator to discuss alternative payment arrangements.

Pro-Rata:

On the Direct Debit system there may incur a pro rata fee when beginning lessons. This fee is payable as a manual fee at reception/over the phone or you may request it to be charged to your first direct debit. This fee occurs when your child/ren start in the middle of a direct debit period.

Sickness and Make-Up Lessons:

If your child is experiencing flu, vomiting or diarrhoea-like symptoms please stay at home.  To receive credit for your missed lesson a medical certificate is required. Alternatively you can use a make-up to catch up on your missed lesson. Each child receives one make-up lesson per Semester, these make-up lessons cannot be rolled over to other terms. Once your child is feeling better please contact our Swim School team to organise a make- up lesson. Suspension of swim school enrolment is also an option should you need longer to recover than one lesson.

Family Credit:

Family credit must be used within 6 months of issue.

Teacher and Class Changes:

We will try our very best to provide you with the same teacher and pool space each week.

Our goal is to provide the best possible learning experience for our students.  If you’d like to let us know how we’re going with this goal, please send us an email swimschool@hobart.ymca.org.au
